Friday Favorite

I have a baby favorite... Bumkins bibs. I saw good reviews on them and after trying to get AJ's bibs cleaned and dried I decided to buy them. They are a bit pricey $5.99, but well worth it! They fit his neck well, wipe off in a flash and dry in a couple minutes. Love'em.

Side Winder Swimming Army Crawl

AJ is now mobile! He cannot crawl, but he definitely gets to where he wants to go! Here are a few pictures to show how he gets around!

1st Official Family Trip

We decided to go to Vegas for an extended weekend. AJ was GREAT in the car! He slept most of the time and when he was awake he would grab at his toys. We met Bianca and Clay down there and had a nice visit. I liked the M&M store, Kurt liked the car show and AJ loved the lights! All in all it was a great trip!

Mother Moment

Monday morning I went out to my car and the door was frozen shut. I worked on it for a minute or so and was able to get it open, but the ice was so thick on the windshield I had no choice but to wait for the defroster to work. AJ and I sat in a nice warm car and waited for the ice to melt. I called work to let them know I may be just a few minutes late. When I noticed the ice was melting I hopped out to scrape the windows. A minute later I went to open the door and noticed the doors had locked. The doors lock automatically if someone touches the brake, I guess as I was sitting inside I accidentally touched the brake.

SO... I am now standing outside the car in the freezing cold, my baby, purse, keys and coat are locked safely inside. We have a spare key but when I went to get it, the combination lock was frozen so I could not get to it. I saw the neighbor and asked if she had a match. When I explained the problem she said she didn't have a match, but she did have a hammer. I went back to the lock put it in my hands and warmed it enough to turn the com, but it didn't open. I went back to the neighbor and asked to use their phone. I called Kurt and he had changed the com. I went back, the lock had frozen again...I warmed it up and was able to get the key. I went inside and could not find the extra car key so I called Kurt again. We then remembered he had put the extra key in my purse when we went to Vegas and we hadn't taken it out again. So now I realize the extra key is inside the warm car with my baby, purse, other set of keys and my coat.

Kurt suggested I call 911 and see what they tell me. So I called 911... "Weber County Dispatch how can I help you?" I explained my story and was told a police officer would be there shortly and she would also call a locksmith.

As I was waiting for the police officer, I called work and told them I was going to be more than a few minutes late. I told them I would be there as soon as I could, but I had to take care of my baby. I also called my babysitter she thought maybe I had the day off...Oh how I wished that was the problem! She told me she has an appointment at 9:00 so wondered if I could drop AJ off at my parents and then she would pick him up there.

I stood by the car and talked to AJ through the window as I made the phone calls and waited for the police officer and the locksmith to arrive. The police officer arrived first. He asked me my name and date of birth and if this was my house. He then said, "This is a little embarrassing huh?" I said, "Ya, just a little!" He said he would wait for the locksmith to arrive.

Just a few minutes later Vic's key service came and in a quick jiffy the door was unlocked and I was able to give AJ a kiss. I asked how much I owed and was told when a child is involved it is no charge. I thanked him profusely and he was on his way.

I then got in the car and drove to Mom and Dad's. As I walked in my Dad said, "I didn't know we were watching AJ today." I told him Mom had told me if there was an emergency she would take him. I told him I had to call 911 this morning so I felt this qualified as an emergency. When I told him the story he laughed and laughed. He thought is was hilarious. I was still having a difficult time seeing the humor.

I then went to work. As I walked in my Principal was acting as my substitute. What a great way to start the week huh?

President Barack Hussein Obama

I had chills as I watched our new president being sworn in. This was quite a surprise to me, I didn't think I would be affected by it, but I was.

I hurried my class in from recess so they could be a part of history and watch the swearing in of President Obama. As I was trying to get them in the room and seated to watch I said, "You need to hurry so we can watch the swearing in of the new president!" I then heard these comments... "The president swears?" "My Mom doesn't like me to say bad words." "I don't think I'm suppose to watch swearing on TV." I smiled and then explained what "swearing in" means.

I may not agree with the President on all of his political views, but there are things I like about him. I like that he seems so personable. I like the way he looks at his wife. I like the way he speaks of his children. I like the way he and his wife banter back and forth in interviews...they seem real. I like his rags to riches story. I may not agree with all of his political views, but there are things I like about our new President!

Genealogy I am doing it

Rutherford & Pearl
I love these pictures of Mom's maternal grandparents. Meet Rutherford Horatio Hutchinson and Catherine "Pearl" Nalder. My great grandmother Pearl died when my grandmother was just a little girl of nine years old. My grandma had to grow up a bit faster and assume more adult responsibilities because of her death. I remember my Grandma telling me I should appreciate all of the things my mother does for me because she had to do a lot of those things herself. I don't know much about Rutherford. Maybe one day I can learn more about my Great Grandma Pearl and my Great Grandfather Rutherford, but for now I LOVE these pictures of them!

Genealogy I am doing it

For us to get AJ sealed, the temple workers requested we bring in a Family Group Record sheet all filled out for him. My Aunt Linda and Uncle Don have a lot of genealogy and I knew they had a program where you could add pictures, I liked that idea. So I talked to them and found out what I needed to get a Family Group Record sheet done. I then talked to Kurt's Dad to get some pictures and I also talked to my Mom and she gathered some pictures for me. I had a lot of fun doing it! The pictures make it come to life! I hope to post a little tidbit here and there about our genealogy. Here is the first tidbit of info. I learned my great great grandmother on my Mom's paternal line was a teacher. She taught at Madison Elementary in Ogden City. My Mom has the school bell she used when she was a teacher. Her name was Sarah Adamson, I guess teaching really is in my blood!

Publish Date & Time

I just learned you can use the post options and publish on the date and time you want it to actually show up! WOW! All of you probably already knew that, but I didn't. I added pictures of AJ's special day on the date it was so you may want to peak at the pictures below!

Have a great day!

Flashback Friday Foto

My sister put something on her blog called, "Flashback Friday" I had never heard of this idea, but I thought it was a great one. So here is my first "Flashback Friday Foto"

Me and my Momma! One night I "kidnapped" my Mom and we went out together and just had fun! One of our stops was at a store and I found this book that seemed to be describing our night so we posed with it! We had a fun time! I love you Mom!

Delicious Pot Roast

I tried this recipe and it was a hit! It is EASY and delicious so I thought I would share...

1 (or 2 if you need more meat) boneless beef chuck roast
1 envelope dry Italian dressing mix
1 envelope dry ranch dressing mix
1 envelope brown gravy mix
1/2 Cup of water.

Place the chuck roasts in a 5 qt. slow cooker. In a small bowl, combine the salad dressings and gravy mix; stir in water. Pour over meat. Cover and cook on low for 7-8 hours or until tender. If desired, thicken cooking juices for gravy. Yield: 12-15 servings.
