Easter at the Hislop's

Saturday we went out to Lance and Teresa's annual Easter egg hunt.  They have a hunt where you cannot put treats in your own basket... when you find something you need to also find someones basket to put it in.  AJ and Griff got a lot of treats!  Other children were very generous!  Anytime AJ found something he wanted to go find Hank so he could put it in his basket.

The kids also had fun seeing the animals and I think the biggest hit of the day was playing in the sandbox.  AJ was in HEAVEN!  He loves to dig and make things in the dirt!  Kurt and I both agree we need to get a sandbox at our house!

Sharing with Hank!

Wakely being a great cousin!

Sunday after we went to church and celebrated the real meaning of Easter, we went to my parent's home and the kids had another Easter egg hunt!  The grand kids had so much fun they hid the eggs again so they could repeat the process!

Griff often hunches over like this to inspect what is going on..pretty cute huh?!

Easter Morning 2011

The Easter Bunny left matching dump truck baskets, good thing the kids left their shoes out!

Are you ready for our home Easter egg hunt?

WOW, the Easter bunny hid the eggs really well!

Our New Motorhome

Kurt loves to camp and fish and ride ATV's.  I like to camp and ride ATV's, but I like to camp with some luxury items. :)  We found a motor home on KSL that was #1 in good condition and #2 one we could afford.  Only problem it was in Nevada... Road trip!  We drove down to Parump Nevada checked it out and ended up giving Albert a check!  We then drove into Las Vegas the kids and I in the car and Kurt in the motor home.  We had a few minor navigation problems and ended up getting to U-haul a bit late so we could not get the car trailer until the morning.  The U-haul manager told us we were welcome to stay in the parking lot overnight, so we did!  I thought it was hilarious that our first night camping was in the parking lot of u-haul in Las Vegas!  The next morning we hooked up the car, all jumped in the motor home and we were off.  We had a little extra time so we decided to stay overnight at a real campground in Fillmore on the way home.  The boys really seemed to have fun.  We fed horses, threw wood (Aj called in wood, not sticks) in a creek, played in the park and enjoyed being outside.  Hopefully we will have some great memories in our "new" motor home!

He did it!

AJ came running into the front room butt naked and saying, "I did it, I did it!  Come see!"  Sara (my cousin who was there visiting with me) and I followed him into the bathroom where he proudly pointed out he peed in his toilet!  YEAH AJ!  He was thrilled! Way to go little buddy!

Hammering

I saw this idea on a blog and thought, humm... it involves tools and hitting... AJ will love this! He sure did!  So did the preschool kids!  This turned out to be a great activity.  Materials needed: Old sturdy box, golf tees, hammer and an adventurous child!

Tangled Monster Truck Pajama Party

Birthdays are for kids.  AJ was VERY EXCITED that mom was having a birthday!  Kurt took the kids shopping and when they came back AJ ran in the house and said, "Mom, mom, I got you a car for your birthday!"  He couldn't wait to give me the little white matchbox car he had picked out for me.  He was also very excited about the card and balloon.  I decdied I would like to stay home and watch a movie as a family, we borrowed Tangled from my sister and becasue it was getting a little late we decided to all get in our PJ's.  AJ played with his monster truck during the show.  He kept calling it our monster truck pajama party.  Good times!

2 year old and Vaseline...quite the combination!

First off let me say I would not normally leave a brand new, full jar of Vaseline in my son's bedroom.  BUT he has been licking his skin around his mouth and it was getting all red so every time I changed his diaper I would put a bit of Vaseline around his mouth.  That said...

AJ was suppose to be taking a nap, I had been downstairs working on some preschool stuff.  When I came upstairs I heard noises coming from his room.  When I went in to investigate the first thing I noticed was I stepped into something slimy.  Then I looked over at AJ he had a grin from ear to ear and was obviously
This shows just how thick it was all over!
covered in something.  I soon saw the EMPTY jar of Vaseline, when I looked inside I could see his little finger marks where he scraped it to make sure he had every last greasy morsel.  It was EVERYWHERE and I do mean EVERYWHERE!  I think he walked around the room and thought...oops missed a spot!  It was in plugs, on shudders, on toys, the dressers, all over his bed, sheets, closet, walls, carpet and not to mention HIM!

Have you ever tried to clean-up Vaseline?  Not easy!  I googled how to do it, but nothing worked very well.  I gave him a peanut butter bath, but that didn't seem to work.  I washed his hair with dish soap, but it still took 3 days until I could get it all out.  The only thing it came out of great was his clothes, hot water and Charlie's Soap worked wonders! We had his carpet cleaned, but you can still see spots.  I wiped everything down with a citrus solution, but it we could still feel the grease.  It took about 3 times wiping it off and washing it down before everything seemed to come out.. I use everything very loosely because we are still finding little greasy spots around his room.  Oh, the adventures we are looking forward to!
